Miroslav Šutej was born in Dugai Resa on April 29, 1936. He graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Zagreb and then studied painting at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts, where he graduated from the Department of Graphics in the class of prof. M. Detonija 1961. god. In the period from 1961 to 1963 he was an associate of the master workshop of Krste Hegedušić.

Šutej was an artist with a rich imagination and remarkable sensibility, initially fascinated by Op art, later interested in kinetic art. In this spirit, his ludist-moving drawings (City 10, 1972) were made, consisting of two layers, both static and dynamic, which can create a variety of combinations. In his 1962 Bombardment of the Eye of the Nose, his remarkably powerful creativity comes to light. In the Aure Cycle (1986-88), Opus inherits Opus and new tendencies. Almost half a century has always been with new and interesting works, showing the power of his imagination. His exceptionally creative art has left a visible mark on the Croatian art scene.

Shute's works are in leading world galleries and museums such as the London Tate Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the collections of the Zagreb and Rijeka Museum of Contemporary Art.
